Central City moved into the last 8 of the U9s Cup with a 4-1 victory over a spirited Feniton Flames maintaining their 100% record in all competitions.

A frosty but bright sunny morning greeted all the players at KGV for a last 16 round of the Cup. Our visitors were Feniton who came as something of an unknown quantity.

Playing up the slope in the first half Central started well although steadily and went behind to Feniton's first attempt on target. All credit to the Central players, they stayed strong and gradually took more and more control forcing a number of good saves from the Feniton keeper and soon equalised with a well taken goal from Jaiden.

Playing with the slope City became more dominant scoring freely through Alastair, Jaiden and Reilly and keeping the excellent Feniton keeper very busy. Playing good football on a difficult surface, the Central players saw out an impressive win.

RESULT - Central 4 v 1 Feniton

Match Report

Following the Christmas break, all of the teams involved were very keen to play despite the weeks of heavy rain we have endured. Fortunately the mini pitches had drained well and although the grass was rather long, we were able to go ahead.
Our visitors to KGV were Copplestone FC and Crediton Youth. Both well run, well organised teams. The conditions proved to be difficult making free flowing football a real challenge for the players. The ground was soft, grass long, it was windy and heavy rain showers were frequent throughout.
In the first round of matches City found themselves in a close battle with Copplestone whilst Utd arguably didn't get the result they deserved in what was a good team performance against Crediton.
The second round of matches had a similar look. Both games highly competitive and played in a good spirit.
A big thank you to parents who helped put up and take down the goalposts and to Jack's Dad for refereeing.
City 3 v 2 Copplestone
Utd 0 v 2 Crediton
City 3 v 2 Crediton
Utd 1 v 4 Copplestone
Goal scorers included Reilly, James, Alastair, Charlie S
Special mentions for our goalkeepers; Charlie D and Jack both performed really well in very tricky goalkeeping conditions.
Training at Exeter School 11/01/16,
Cup tie v Feniton @ KGV (Please note this only involves City),
23rd Jan away to Cullompton Cobras and Scorpions (players not involved against Crediton and Copplestone will be included)

This week the season resumes with a home tie vs Crediton Youth and Copplestone Tigers.

As I'm sure you will all gather, the pitches are very wet following the amount of rain we have received in recent weeks. However we are set for a drier few days and are therefore hopeful we will go ahead. Keep an eye on this webpage for further updates.

We have a few players unnavailable due to illness, trips to FA Cup matches etc and, as always, there is some rotation. However, we are looking to field two strong teams and I'm sure all of the players are raring to go after the Christmas break.

As usual, KO is 1030. Please arrive by 0945. We do need and appreciate the help given by parents in putting the goals together. Referee volunteers welcome too, whistles provided!

Remember - full kit, drinks, snacks, studs and shin pads.

UTD - Ben, Charlie S, Charlie W, Jack, Joe R, Josh S, Luke, Olly, Raffy, William

CITY - Alastair, Charlie D, Finley, Freddie, James, Jago, Joel, Oscar, Reilly, Sam

There is plenty of football to come over the next couple of months starting at home this week against Crediton and Copplestone. There is some concern over the state if the pitches so we are hoping for some drier weather this week. Please keep an eye on the website for updates throughout the week. Any decision to cancel will be made as early as possible.

As usual teams will be posted here on Weds. Let me know if your child isn't available on Saturday.

Central City 6          CS Bobcats 0

Saturday 19th December 2015

A goal after just 14 seconds by Charlie Heaton settled any early fears that City may have had in their home match against CS Bobcats.

Further goals by Felix Lawrence, William Franchi, Aram Share-Turner (2 (1 Pen)) and Marcel Wloch saw City Cruise to a comfortable win in the muddiest of conditions at KGV.

The game saw a strong performance from all the players on the pitch, Excellent defence from the back 3 of Robin Wilson, Thom Robertson and skipper Alfie Pickering shut out Bobcats attacks, when they did get through fine saves from City keeper Corey Chudley kept the goal in tact. In midfield the wide play of William Franchi and Charlie Heaton stretched the Bobcat defence time and time again allowng the solid central pairing of Aram Share-Turner and Man of the Match Marcel Wloch the freedom to roam. Striker  Felix Lawrence kept the Opposition defence occupied all game and when the substitutes came on (Paul Browning and Wiktor Iwanicki) the standards remained high.

The game was brought to a premature end when both managers and the referee agreed that with the game won and conditions getting worse, for saftey reasons the game would be ended with the score at the time standing as the result.

Central City Under 11`s won 6-0 at home to CS Bobcats at a muddy King George V to reach the Christmas break only losing 1 game so far this season.

Central City U9s have reached the Christmas break with their 100% record in all competitions still intact, following an 8-2 victory over Honiton at a very wet and muddy KGV!

Created: Saturday, 19 December 2015 20:38

The U9s played at a very wet KGV against Honiton today. Conditions became so poor that we decided to play only one round of matches.

The matches were also reduced to 6-a-side as Honiton were short of a few players. Great credit goes to William who  volunteered to play for Honiton to makes sure the sides were even.

The matches were entertaining despite the conditions and the quality of some of the football was exceptional given the circumstances.

City 8 v 2 Honiton Hippos

Utd 1 v 3 Honiton Lacers

Goal scorers included Reilly, James, Jaiden, Alastair Charlie W and Matthew.

Players of the Day: William, Charlie D, James, Harrison and Charlie W
