Under 11`s League Cup Round 1

Saturday 17th October 2015

Braces from Charlie Heaton and William Franchi and a solo effort from Samuel Basham saw Central City into the second round of the League Cup.

Another fast start saw Central take a 2 goal lead aganist their higher league opponents only to be pegged back from the kick off of the second goal.

With the half time score at 4-2 to City,  Fliers changed their approach in the second half trying play long balls over the top of the defence and looking to get runners in behind.

The games was an end to end affair with lots of great attacking football and solid defending by both teams.

Fliers scored midway through the second half creating a nervous last quater after a scrammble in the City defence.

With 2 minutes to go Fliers were awarded a free kick just outside the City box, as the ball was played in the defender slipped and the ball was fired into the net giving the City keeper no chance.

The game restarted and City played the ball back to the keeper Corey Chudley who kicked the ball upfield, the defender let it bounce and as it did Man of the Match William Franchi intercepted running in behind the defence from the halfway line 1 on 1 with the Fliers goalie, with everyone holding their breath he cooly slotted it pass him into the net.

This was the last action of the match with the referee blowing up for full time from the re-start.

City now look forward to the next round, after 2 rounds against higher league opponents will be looking for a favorable draw.

Great results again this weekend. 2 Match reports this week - thanks to Felix Western and Nigel Wraith.

"The first half was pretty close, and some great defending from Aiden, Billy and Fraser in goal kept us in contention.

We were all over them in the second half - a lot of great running with the ball, some good passing, and the boys kept their positions brilliantly. Heavitree simply couldn’t handle us, particularly as Ben came out of defence to destroy them with a few marauding runs. Clean sheet for Enrique in his first appearance in goal".

Scorers - Fin (2), Ali (2), Ben (2), Felix, Aiden

"Again, we were way too strong for this team. As with the first game, the first half required some good goal-keeping to keep them out - this time from Reuben. In this game, our positions became pretty sloppy as everyone wanted a bit of goal action! Great second-half hat-trick from Aiden including a headed goal from a perfectly delivered corner from Fin. Felix nearly scored a wonderful volley, and it was good to see James getting stuck in.
All in all, a great couple of performances.

Scorers - Aiden (3), Fin (2), Ali, Ben, Enrique, Reuben.

Champagne moment - Ali’s outrageous shot straight from the kick-off to restore our 2 goal lead going into half-time (eat you heart out Demba Ba)".

Nigel Wraith

"Today we won both matches with scores of 9-0 and 8-1.

We played well as Fin Hill scored to start the goal-fest. Ali scored two, and got the champagne moment for his second goal. Aiden Jewell added to the score line whilst Felix lashed a tap-in from bottom corner. Ben Challen and Fin Hill got more to end the game 8-1.

Our second game was great, Scorers  Ali Douglas, Ben Challen, Fin Hill, Enrique , Aiden Jewell, who got a hat-trick and Ruben Muscutt made it look easy.

James T nearly scored and so did Billy and Fraser.

We did really good passing in a system, and had really good counter attacks and also had a few good clearances.

Heavitree Giants and Titans did very well and kept going and nearly scored a couple".

Central Santos vs Dawlish United 5-1

"In the first half Fin Brown scored three goals putting us in the lead of three nil.  He was a great sport and helped the other team for one half which helped us as  we had play harder to try and get past him.

But in the second half they came back and scored one goal and Levi had

two amazing saves . Then Noah scored a cracking goal top left corner then

Then the ref blew the full time whistle and we shook hands and we said good game."

Central Santos  10 v Heavitree 0

“In the first match the new players went on in the first half and did really well. Niall scored a brilliant hat trick with good passes from his team mates. The whole team worked hard together and did everything well. At half time we were 3-0 up.

Noah, Levi, Cody and me went on in the second half. We took our opportunities well with Cody tackling hard and playing long balls into the box, Noah worked hard in the mid-field, Levi did great saves, Finley G was crossing the balls in well to me and I was able to score 6 goals with one back heel into the bottom corner. Archie had a great take with a lovely side strike into the bottom corner. Joe and Charlie worked well together in defence.

We won comfortably 10-0 without Heavitree scoring. Heavitree goalie stopped us scoring more goals than we could of.”

Central City  9                 CS Bobcats 2

Saturday 10th October 2015

A lightening quick start saw City take the lead after just 10 seconds of their league encounter against CS Bobcats, Samuel Basham stole the ball straight from the kick off feeding the ball to Charlie Heaton who ran through the Bobcats defence firing a ferocious shot into the net from an acute angle.

Heaton went on to complete his hat trick and with further goals from  Aram Share-Turner (2), George Russell, Samuel Basham, William Franchi and a first goal for the club from Paul Browning saw City win another comfortable game against probably the most competitve and organised team they have played so far this season.

City now move on to the first round proper of the league cup next week in which they play away against higher league Feniton Fliers.

MATCH REPORT - 3rd October 2015

2 victories again this last weekend against Dawlish. Unfortunately I don't know which result was against which Dawlish team (Dawlish United and Dawlish City). Apologies as I wasn't there to witness the fantastic football.

Thanks to Felix Western for this weeks review of proceedings...

"Today we played really well in both games against Dawlish. We won our first game 3-1 with Fin and Ali getting the goals. We then won our next game a smashing 5-1 victory over the second team.

Dawlish also hit the crossbar early on, which was really close to going in!

Dawlish played very well with one man down, but we took our chances well with Ben, Ali and Fin getting the goals. Ben’s first would’ve gone past Manuel Neuer!

James made great saves in goal, while Fin and Ali got a hatful of goals. Ben was class in defence and midfield getting two goals in the second game. Enrique was again doing great passes and tricky dribbling. Fraser was good running down the wing, and Ruben was fantastic in Defence and running down the wing.

I don’t think we had a champagne moment but I’ll give it to Ben for his first goal."
