Match Report - 17th October 2015 - Devon League Cup

CENTRAL GALAXY 4   DAWLISH UNITED LEOPARDS 0

"Today we played Dawlish in the cup and won the game 4-0. We kept taking long shots and the partnership with Enrique and Tom playing great passes into Aiden and Felix. Felix hit the crossbar but straight away Enrique delivered a wonderful pass to Aiden and scored a lovely goal. Within 1 minute, Aiden fired a long shot into the bottom right. In the second half Enrique dribbled through the whole defence and whacked it bottom left. Ali scored another and we won the game.

We had more chances like when a pass delivered into the box and it just couldn’t reach Ali or Enrique. We hit the post a lot and Fin hit the crossbar.

We did really well that game and deserved to go round to the third round of the cup (Due to reaching the quarter-finals last time we got a ‘buy’ which put us one round ahead)

A great team performance and a deserved victory

Well done to Dawlish as they played very well."

RESULT!

This Saturday the U9s found themselves up against Dawlish at KGV. Following last week's cup defeat for Utd at Dawlish, everyone knew it wouldn't be an easy set of fixtures. Both Central teams had strong line-ups and the players were keen and confident.

The first matches of the morning were as competitive as predicted. Both City and Utd went behind to good Dawlish goals. City powered on to a good win whilst Utd were involved in an absorbing contest. 1- 0 down at half time they took charge and were soon 3-1 up however Dawlish never gave up, but after Dawlish closed the gap to 3-2, the hosts were able to control the last few minutes for a great win.

In the second set of matches City scored a lot of goals in a convincing win whilst Utd again had to battle hard. They created lots of chances but could only manage one goal, leading to a tense finish which even saw Dawlish hit the woodwork. However, Utd held on and overall, deserved their second victory of the morning.

Goal scorers included Jaiden, Charlie S, Oscar, James, Reilly, Josh, Sam and Alastair. There were also notable performances from Milo, Harrison and Jago.

City 6 v 2 Lions

Utd 3 v 2 Tigers

City 8 v 2 Tigers

Utd 1 v 0 Lions

An external observer commented that the players were a credit to us and that the quality of the football was commendable. Well done to Dawlish for their part in that. It is always a pleasure to play Dawlish, a club with a great ethos.

Next up - away to Exmouth and Lympstone @ Exmouth.

No training on Monday, teams and details for next week on the website on Weds. Please let me know if your child is not available on Oct 31st.

U9s Cup

Created: Sunday, 18 October 2015 00:00

Both teams were in Cup action this weekend at the seaside, City at Exmouth and Utd at Dawlish.

Utd had a good battle with a strong Dawlish team, eventually losing out 3-1.

Utd followed their cup match with a second 'friendly' game against Dawlish and, frustratingly, they won 5-4 which included a couple of goals and assists from player of the day, Jago.

City had a scare at Exmouth, a tough first half saw them come in one down at half-time. However, they pulled together and were soon on level terms following a cool one-on-one finish from Reilly Gibson. An Alastair Smith freekick special, put Utd in front. They then took charge with a fantastic long range effort from Josh Smalley and great team work to create a fourth from Alastair.

Mixed fortunes for U9s

Under 11`s League Cup Round 1

Saturday 17th October 2015

Braces from Charlie Heaton and William Franchi and a solo effort from Samuel Basham saw Central City into the second round of the League Cup.

Another fast start saw Central take a 2 goal lead aganist their higher league opponents only to be pegged back from the kick off of the second goal.

With the half time score at 4-2 to City,  Fliers changed their approach in the second half trying play long balls over the top of the defence and looking to get runners in behind.

The games was an end to end affair with lots of great attacking football and solid defending by both teams.

Fliers scored midway through the second half creating a nervous last quater after a scrammble in the City defence.

With 2 minutes to go Fliers were awarded a free kick just outside the City box, as the ball was played in the defender slipped and the ball was fired into the net giving the City keeper no chance.

The game restarted and City played the ball back to the keeper Corey Chudley who kicked the ball upfield, the defender let it bounce and as it did Man of the Match William Franchi intercepted running in behind the defence from the halfway line 1 on 1 with the Fliers goalie, with everyone holding their breath he cooly slotted it pass him into the net.

This was the last action of the match with the referee blowing up for full time from the re-start.

City now look forward to the next round, after 2 rounds against higher league opponents will be looking for a favorable draw.

MATCH REPORTS - 10TH OCTOBER VS HEAVITREE A & B

Great results again this weekend. 2 Match reports this week - thanks to Felix Western and Nigel Wraith.

GALAXY 8 - HEAVITREE A 1

"The first half was pretty close, and some great defending from Aiden, Billy and Fraser in goal kept us in contention.

We were all over them in the second half - a lot of great running with the ball, some good passing, and the boys kept their positions brilliantly. Heavitree simply couldn’t handle us, particularly as Ben came out of defence to destroy them with a few marauding runs. Clean sheet for Enrique in his first appearance in goal".

Scorers - Fin (2), Ali (2), Ben (2), Felix, Aiden

 GALAXY 9 - HEAVITREE B 0

"Again, we were way too strong for this team. As with the first game, the first half required some good goal-keeping to keep them out - this time from Reuben. In this game, our positions became pretty sloppy as everyone wanted a bit of goal action! Great second-half hat-trick from Aiden including a headed goal from a perfectly delivered corner from Fin. Felix nearly scored a wonderful volley, and it was good to see James getting stuck in.
All in all, a great couple of performances.

Scorers - Aiden (3), Fin (2), Ali, Ben, Enrique, Reuben.

Champagne moment - Ali’s outrageous shot straight from the kick-off to restore our 2 goal lead going into half-time (eat you heart out Demba Ba)".

Nigel Wraith

"Today we won both matches with scores of 9-0 and 8-1.

We played well as Fin Hill scored to start the goal-fest. Ali scored two, and got the champagne moment for his second goal. Aiden Jewell added to the score line whilst Felix lashed a tap-in from bottom corner. Ben Challen and Fin Hill got more to end the game 8-1.

Our second game was great, Scorers  Ali Douglas, Ben Challen, Fin Hill, Enrique , Aiden Jewell, who got a hat-trick and Ruben Muscutt made it look easy.

James T nearly scored and so did Billy and Fraser.

We did really good passing in a system, and had really good counter attacks and also had a few good clearances.

Heavitree Giants and Titans did very well and kept going and nearly scored a couple".

Felix Western

Match Report - 3rd October 2015

Created: Monday, 12 October 2015 00:00

Central Santos vs Dawlish United 5-1

"In the first half Fin Brown scored three goals putting us in the lead of three nil.  He was a great sport and helped the other team for one half which helped us as  we had play harder to try and get past him.

But in the second half they came back and scored one goal and Levi had

two amazing saves . Then Noah scored a cracking goal top left corner then

Then the ref blew the full time whistle and we shook hands and we said good game."
