City Under 11`s Win At Home To West Exe

City Under 11`s enjoy another home win

Central City 5                West Exe 2

Saturday 5th December 2015

42 Players, Coaches and Family members decended on the Exeter Arms for pre match breakfast prior to Central City playing their match at home against West Exe.

The early play was concentrated around the middle of the pitch with both teams struggling to cope with the strong wind blowing across the pitch.

City gradually started to get into their stride and took the lead with a powerful shot from just inside the box from Samuel Basham after good work from Marcel Wlock.

Basham doubled his tally shortly afterwards, with great persistance twisted one way then the other before beating the keeper low down to his right.

City`s third had a touch of fortune about it, great interplay between Felix Lawrence and Wlock saw the later lettting a shot go from way out, the ball was looking as if it was going to fly into the top corner but the defender managed to get in the way, only sending the ball pass his own keeper into the net (Wlock was credited with the goal).

City seamed to fall asleep for the rest of the half and were punished twice just before the break.

West Exe`s first goal came from a ball played across his own box by a City midfielder, the ball was intercepted and slotted home nicely by the on rushing striker at the far post.

Exe gained confidence from their opener and soon had a second, the ball was played through the centre of the City midfield and slotted through the defence allowing a freeshot on goal which was clinically finshed.

Not satified with have 2 goals Exe went on the attack looking for more, after being awarded a free kick on the edge of the box a shot at goal was taken and if not for the safe hands of city keeper Corey Chudley the game would have been level at the break.

City gathered themselves after the interval and dominated most of the second half, City leading scorer William Franchi took over from Chudley in goal, Jack Long came on for Wiktor Iwanicki, Charlie Heaton for George Baker and Lewis Woods for Marcel Wlock.

The fourth City goal came after a right wing cross from Heaton, the ball fell at the feet of Felix Lawrence who scored his first goal for the club low into the corner of the net.

City completed the scoring with 5 minutes to go from the most unlikely source. After coming back on as a striker halfway through the half Corey Chudley was played through on the right edge of the box by Heaton, twisting and turning he got in behind his defender before shooting with his weaker left foot into the bottom corner sending the keeper the wrong way.

EVERY CITY PLAYER HAS NOW SCORED A GOAL FOR THE CLUB  -   WELL DONE ALL OF YOU !!!

Cancelled!

Created: Saturday, 05 December 2015 13:36

I can only apologise to all the parents and players who travelled to Alphington only to discover that the fixture had been cancelled. I received a message at 0930 which I saw at 0940. I called the Alphington manager at 0945.

As you will all appreciate, the Alphington manager was too late in cancelling, 0930 is too late. I made this clear to him. He was apologetic and explained that there are challenges around pitch allocation for them. We agreed that if there was any doubt, the games needed to be called off sooner and ideally he could have contacted us on Friday and we could have moved the matches to KGV.

We will attempt to rearrange these fixtures for later in the season and we'll look forward to our matches next week at home to Brixington and West Hill.

Hopefully we'll see everyone on Monday at training as usual.

MATCH REPORT – SATURDAY 28TH NOVEMBER

EXETER PANTHERS 2  –  CENTRAL GALAXY 1

PINK PANTHERS 0  –  CENTRAL GALAXY 1

We enjoyed a trip out to Broadclyst today. The weather was atrocious but we found some splendid play equipment. We started on the cross-trainer, before progressing onto the bench press, the lat pull down machine and the cycle trainer. The zip wire was a fitting conclusion to our morning out.

(Oh, and we had a couple of games of football which we won 1-0 - a superb header by Fin; and lost 2-1 - a great positive attitude throughout from all the boys despite the result and the weather).

Well done everyone!

MATCH REPORT 28/11/15

This week the U9s were at home to Twyford Spartans and Tiverton Town. Unfortunately Tiverton cancelled at the last minute due to a shortage of players leaving the two Central teams with just one match each against a plucky Twyford. Our thanks go out to Twyford who played with a great attitude and had a difficult job playing twice whilst our teams only had to play once each.

First up were Utd who played their part in an entertaining draw in which the Central team showed glimses of what they are capable of with some good passing football. The crossbar was all that got in the way of a possible victory.

The wind and rain had arrived by the time City played their game. However that didn't prevent what proved to be an excellent performance. The highlight of which was a beautiful long ball from Joel which left Reilly with a 1-on-1 with the keeper, who he cooly rounded to score.

Goal scorers included Raffy, Charlie W, Jaiden (4), Reilly (2) and an OG

Players of the Day: Josh, Freddie, Jaiden

RESULTS

Utd 3 v 3 Twyford

City 6 v 0 Twyford

City avenge their only defeat away at Crediton Youth

Created: Sunday, 29 November 2015 00:00

Crediton Youth 1     Central City 3

Saturday 28th November 2015

On a cold, wet and windy morning Central City avenged their only defeat of the season in a hard fought match against Crediton Youth.

After a fast start City were caught on the break on 9 minutes with the Crediton striker running from 30 yards to fire a shot into the roof of the net.

End to end football saw both sides looking dangerous on the attack and solid in defence, with opportunities at both ends an exciting game ensued.

City equalised on 22 minutes, a through ball from Man of the Match Samuel Basham put William Franchi clean through, after sorting out his feet let fly into the bottom corner of the goal giving the Crediton keeper no chance.

City continued to dominate as the half reached it`s end and deservedly went in front in first half injury time, the last of three consecutive corners drifted in on the wind falling into the net giving Aram Share-Turner the go ahead goal.

The second half started with Crediton turning up the heat on the City defence, first Crediton were denied by an Excellent stop from City keeper Corey Chudley and then missed an open goal as the ball spun agonisingly wide from a cross shot.

City came back into the game and scored the final goal of the game with 15 minutes to go, George Russell weaving his way into the box only to see his shot come back of the post, a gratefully accepting William Franchi  gleefully tapping the ball home from 6 yards.

Well done to all the Players who coped so well in difficult conditions and the Supporters who stood in the wind and driving rain cheering on both teams in a match which was a credit to the league.

MATCH REPORT

This week the U9s played away at a cold and blustery Sidmouth. The players were keen to play after a couple of weeks without football. Difficult weather conditions, a slopey pitch and a ball like a lead balloon, all played their parts in an eventful morning and what turned out to be, a mixed set of results.

Utd can count themselves very unfortunate to go down to a narrow defeat in their first game, whilst City started slowly, playing up the slope, but edge ahead to win.

In the second set of matches City were in control for long periods, leading to a second win. Utd started their second game uphill with the wind against, which proved too much for them and gave Sidmouth too much of an advantage. It was a difficult game for all of the Utd players, some of whom dealt with the heavy defeat better than others. Players need to remember that we stick together at Central regardless of the result.

Goal scorers included Alastair, James, Reilly, Ed, Jago, Joe and Jaiden.

Players of the Day - Milo, Jack, James and Alastair

Central City 8        Moors Vultures 2

Saturday 14th November 2015

On a cold, wet and windy morning at King George V,  Central City U11's won a competitive match with Moors Vultures 8-2.

A hat trick from William Franchi, 2 goals from Charlie Heaton and singles from Marcel Wloch, Jack Long and Samuel Basham gave the scoreline a one sided look.

The game was an end to end affair with City taking more of their chances when they came along, credit to both teams as they tried to play football on the ground in slippery conditions both attacking with intent and solidly defending when called upon.
