Both United and City returned to action following the Cup break last weekend.

City kicked things off to a great start with a convincing 3 - nil win with goals from Ben M, Benny and Hallam.  They struggled in their second match, going down 6-nil.  It was always going to be an uphill struggle, losing their key player and fine goal keeper Ben M.  Following a brave 50:50 challenge Ben unfortunately came off second best.

With a front three reminiscent of Messi, Suarez and Neymar the United team struggled to fire in their first match, loosing 2-1.  Their fortunes improved in their second match.  Stepping up the passing and team work they were rewarded with a 4-2 win.  Highlight of the match was a corner from Benjamin met by Charlie.

City: Nidal, Jak, Hallam, Tom, Faye, Toby D, Sam, Benny, Toby G, Ben
United: Connor, Billy, Pablo, Guy, Matt B, Heston, Benjamin, Charlie, Matt S

Central U9s vs Honiton and Exmouth 23rd Sept 17 KGV

Saturday saw both Central teams struggle against a very strong and well organised team from Exmouth.  Coming under pressure from a quick and robust mid-field both United and Central always looked second best.  Lots to learn from a tough match. There were some positives to take from the game including some heroic goal keeping from Billy that stopped the scoreline being even higher.

Both teams put up a much better performance against Honiton with United winning 5-4 and City getting a share of the spoils at 3-3.  Highlight of the United match was an excellent dribble and cross from Benjamin neatly tucked away by Tom.  This followed a trademark run and shoot by the ever dangerous Ben M.

Central U9s vs Brixington Blues 9th Sept 17

Both the United and City teams continued their early season form as they welcomed the Brixington Blues to KGV.

United's first match saw some great passing and goals straight out of the top drawer in a close run match.  Highlights included a brace for Hallam, Benjamin's dribble and shoot plus Tom scoring direct from a free kick. Final score 5-3

Clearly a team who know how to grind out a win, they came out on top 3-2 in their second match.  A special mention goes to Pablo who was voted POTM on his debut for the Reds.

United: Pablo, Noah, Heston, Matt S, Barry, Hallam, Guy, Tom, Ben(C), Benjamin

Mixed fortunes for City saw them struggle in their first match, going down 4-nil.  Clearly buoyed by their new kit, they turned it around in their second match.  Scoring on his debut goal for the Reds, birthday boy Benny quickly set the tone.  This was followed up by two goal hero Connor.  Nidal and Charlie added their name to the scoresheet before two consolation goals for the Blues.  The win was never in doubt.

City: Nidal, Alfie, Faye(C), Sam, Toby G, Toby D, Matt B, Billy, Charlie, Connor, Benny

POTM - Sam
